Reaction Steps

A solution of 7-(4-methylphenyl)-N-(4-piperidino-methyl-phenyl)-2,3-dihydro-1-benzothiepine-4-carboxamide (0.08 g) and methyl iodide (0.013 ml) in dimethylformamide (20 ml) was stirred at room temperature over night. The solvent was evaporated, and to the residue was added ethyl acetate. Precipitated crude crystal was filtered, which were recrystallized from ethanol-hexane to give 1-(N-(7-(4-methylphenyl)-2,3-dihydro-1-benzothiepine-4-carbonyl)-4-aminobenzyl)-1-methylpiperidinium iodide (Compound 94) (0.077 g) as colorless crystals.
