Succinic acid (0.70 g; 1.2 mol. equiv.) was dissolved in the minimum quantity of hot ethanol (10 ml). 2-Amino-N-(1,1-dimethylhexyl)acetamide (0.92 g) was added to the hot solution, with shaking, and was rinsed in with ether (10 ml). The mixture was then diluted with more ether (240 ml).After the mixture had stood overnight in the refringerator, the product wasfiltered off and dried in vacuo, m.p. 107.5°-109° C. T.l.c. (silica; methanol: CHCl3 ; 2:3; ammonia): 1 spot, Rf, ca. 0.65, apartfrom spot corresponding to succinic acid. Found: C, 55.13; H, 9.46; N, 9.27%. C14H28N2O5 requires C, 55.24; H, 9.27; N, 9.20%.
