2.50 g (6.6) mmoles) of the product of Example 8 are hydrogenated in 120 ml of methanol in the presence of 2.0 g of palladium-on-charcoal. After the uptake of the calculated amount of hydrogen (about 25 minutes) the catalyst is filtered off and the filtrate is evaporated in vacuo. The residue is admixed with 30 ml of water, the mixture is rendered alkaline with aqueous sodium carbonate solution, and extracted with dichloromethane. The dichloromethane solutions are combined, dried, filtered, and the filtrate is evaporated. The oily residue is dissolved in 10 ml of methanol, and the solution is acidified to pH 6 with methanolic hydrochloric acid. The separated substance is filtered off, washed with ether and dried.
