Trichloroisothiazole (9.4 g, 0.05 mol) and 9 ml of methyl trifluoromethane sulfonate were heated at 65° for 30 min. After cooling, either (150 ml) was added and the solid collected to yield 4.6 g (26%) of product, mp 118-120. Spectral data (NMR & IR) were consistent with the assigned structure.
