In an analogous procedure in the preparation of 1-ethyl-2-methoxymethyl-3-benzyloxy-pyridin-4(1H)-one using 2-(1 -methoxyethyl)-3-benzyloxy-pyran-4(1H)-one 3.12 g (12 mmol, 1 eq.) yielded the title compound (1.03 g, 29.6%) after purification by column chromatography on silica gel (eluant: 15% CH3OH/85% CHCl3) as a yellow oil.
