This compound was prepared in a manner similar to that described for (R/S)-3-ethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-2,2-dimethylquinoline (EXAMPLE 348) but using iodopropane in place of iodoethane. (R/S)-1,2,3,4-Tetrahydro-2,2-dimethyl-4-propylquinoline was obtained in 16% overall yield as a colorless oil. Data for (R/S)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-2,2-dimethyl-4-propylquinoline: 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) 6.98 (d, J=7.4, 1H), 6.96 (t, J=7.4, 1H), 6.61 (t, J=7.4, 1H), 6.45 (d, J=7.4, 1H), 3.60 (br s, 1H), 2.87 (dd, J=16.6, 5.2, 1H), 2.42 (dd, J=16.6, 10.7, 1H), 1.66-1.49 (m, 3H), 1.40-1.25 (m, 2H), 1.21 (s, 3H), 1.05 (s, 3H), 0.92 (t, J=7.1, 3H).
