Methanol → Methyl 2-oxoimidazolidine-1-carboxylate
Reaction equation
Cl[C:2]([N:4]1[CH2:8][CH2:7][NH:6][C:5]1=[O:9])=[O:3].[CH3:10][OH:11]>>[CH3:10][O:11][C:2]([N:4]1[CH2:8][CH2:7][NH:6][C:5]1=[O:9])=[O:3]Participants

Procedure
14.9 parts by weight of N-chlorocarbonyl-imidazolid-2-one were introduced into 70 parts by volume of ice-cold methanol and the mixture was stirred for 1 hour at room temperature and subsequently for 1 hour at 40°-50° C. After stripping off the excess methanol, the product was recrystallized from acetone.
Workup
- customthe product was recrystallized from acetone
