40 g of ethyl 2-methyl-3-(2-methyl-5-isopropyl-cyclopent-1-en-1-yl)-prop-2-enoate in 100 ml cooled ether were added under stirring to a suspension of 4 g of LiAlH4 in 50 ml ether. After addition of water to the thus obtained suspension, the separated organic phase was dried and evaporated to dryness. There was thus obtained 31.4 g (yield 95%) of the desired alcohol; bp. 75°-80°/0.01 Torr.
