Ammonia is bubbled through a solution of 3,4-dichlorostyrylsulfonyl chloride (27.2 g., 0.1 mole) in 250 ml. of ether for a period of 30 min. at about 20° C. The solvent is evaporated and the residue stirred with water, collected and dried at 100° C. under vacuum affords 24.6 g. (97% yield) of 3,4-dichlorostyrylsulfonamide, m.p. 127°-130° C.
