3-Chloro-10,11-dihydro-5-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-5H-dibenzo[a,d]cycloheptene is converted to the corresponding cyanamide by following the procedure of Example 6 A. Upon hydrolysis, according to the procedure of Example 6 B, there is obtained 3-chloro-10,11-dihydro-5-(3-methylaminopropyl)-5H-dibenzo[a,d]cycloheptene. This may be converted to its hydrochloride salt directly by treatment with ethanolic hydrogen chloride as described in Example 6 B.
