Reaction Steps
2.92 g. of 3-(2-chloroethyl)-5-methyl-1,2,4-oxadiazole, 50 cm3 isopropylalcohol and 4.0 g. of theophylline sodium are heated for 8 hours. 5.3 g. (91% yield) 7-[2-(5-methyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl)-ethan-1-yl]-theophylline are obtained, m.p.: 113°-114° C. (water).
