Reaction Steps
29.75 g (0.25 mol) of phenylisocyanate are introduced dropwise at 0° to 5°C into a solution of 54.75g (0.25 mol) of 2-(piperidinomethyl)-4,6-dimethylphenol in 80 ml of anhydrous benzene. The reaction mixture is stirred at room temperature for 4 hours. The precipitated carbamic acid ester is suction filtered and washed with petroleum ether (b.p. 30°-50°C).
