75 mL of methylene chloride and 3.75 g (0.01 mole) of nalbuphine were placed in a 250-mL ice-bathed round-bottomed flask. While stirring, 0.01 mole of pivaloyl chloride dissolved in 20 mL of methylene chloride was added gradually. Following the procedure as described in Example 1, pure nalbuphine pivalate was obtained. The physical data are shown in Table 1 and FIGS. 6, 7 and 8.
