To a solution of the compound of Example 12 (0.8 g, 1.72 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (25 mL) containing 1,3-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (1.06 g, 5.14 mmol) was added dimethyl glycine (0.19 g, 1.9 mmol), followed by 4-dimethylaminopyridine (0.21 g, 1.72 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours, the solvent was removed in vacuo, and the residue was purified by column chromatography on silica eluting with 10% methanol/ethyl acetate to afford 0.64 g (68%) of 2-[4-oxo-6,7,8,9-tetrahydro-4H-pyrido-[1,2-a]pyrimidin-2-yl]oxymethyl-4-isopropyl-6-[2-(dimethylaminomethylcarbonyloxy)ethoxy]saccharin as a white foam.
