0.1 g (0.0003 mol) of 1-benzyl-piperidin-4-yl 2-chloro-benzoate was dissolved in 5 ml of ether and 0.5 ml of methanol and treated with 1 ml of 1N ethereal HCI. The mixture was stirred for 2 hrs. and the resulting precipitate was filtered off, washed with ether and dried. 0.095 g (86%) of 1-benzyl-piperidin-4-yl 2-chloro-benzoate hydrochloride (1:1) was obtained as white crystals; m.p. 200°-202°.
