1.79 g (0.00931 mol) of 1-benzyl-4-hydroxy-piperidine and 2.3 ml (0.0164 mol) of triethylamine were dissolved in 20 ml of toluene and treated with 1.63 g (0.00745 mol) of 4-bromobenzoyl chloride. The mixture was boiled at reflux for 6 hrs., the precipitate was filtered off and the filtrate was concentrated. The residue was chromatographed over silica gel with ethyl acetate/hexane (1:2). 2.26 g (81%) of 1-benzyl-piperidin-4-yl 4-bromo-benzoate were obtained as white crystals; m.p. 71°-72°.
