Procedure

0.153 g (0.000445 mol) of 1-(3-chloro-benzyl)-piperidin-4-yl 4-methyl-benzoate was dissolved in 13 ml of ether, filtered, diluted with 0.45 ml of methanol and treated with 1.5 ml of 1N ethereal HCI. The separated precipitate was filtered off and dried. 0.10 g (59%) of 1-(3-chloro-benzyl)-piperidin-4-yl 4-methyl-benzoate hydrochloride (1:1) was obtained as white crystals; m.p. 226°-228°.
