A slurry of eletriptan hydrobromide monohydrate (1.0 g) in toluene (30 ml) was heated under reflux. An aliquot of the toluene (5 ml) was removed by distillation and the mixture was held at below the reflux temperature for 2–3 hours. A further aliquot of toluene (5 ml) was removed by distillation. The residual slurry was cooled to ambient temperature over about one hour and the solid obtained collected by filtration and dried under reduced pressure at 60° C. to provide anhydrous eletriptan hydrobromide (0.81 g).
