Reaction Steps

To a stirring solution of 8 (22 mg, 0.035 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (1 mL) was added trifluoroacetic acid (1 mL) and stirring was continued 4 h. Solvent and excess trifluoroacetic acid were removed in vacuo to afford a brown oil. The oil was diluted with ether and concentrated in vacuo 5 times on a rotary evaporator to afford a white solid which was placed in a fritted funnel and washed with cold ether producing VPC24287 (13 mg, 91%) as a powdery white solid. Rf=0 (4:1 CHCl3/methanol).
