tert-Butyl 4-(2-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolin-7-yloxy)piperidine-1-carboxylate (0.2 g, 0.58 mmol) was dissolved in dichloromethane (20 mL) and treated with trifluoroacetic acid (1.3 mL). The resulting mixture was stirred at ambient temperature until all the starting material had been consumed, at which time the volatiles were removed by evaporation to dryness under reduced pressure. The residue was neutralized by addition of excess saturated NaHCO3 aq. and the mixture evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure.
