3-(4-Acetoxymethyl-7-chloro-1H-indazol-5-yl)-2-(R)-benzyloxycarbonylamino-propionic acid methyl ester (290 mg, 0.63 mmol) was converted into the desired product in a manner analogous to the preparation of 2-(R)-benzyloxycarbonylamino-3-(4-tert-butoxycarbonylamino-2-hydroxymethyl-3-methyl-phenyl)-propionic acid methyl ester. Crude product was obtained as an orange solid in 95% yield. Material was carried forward without further purification.
