A solution of (4-{4-[3-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)propoxy]phenyl}butyl)carbamic acid benzyl ester 3 (0.30 g, 0.73 mmol) methanol (20 mL) and dichloromethane (5 mL) was stirred at room temperature overnight under hydrogen atmosphere in the presence of 10% palladium-on-carbon catalyst (0.1 g, 50% wet). The catalyst was removed by suction filtration, and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to give the desired product 4 as a white solid (200 mg, 99% yield) which was used for the next step without further purification. m/z (ESI): 276 [C14H21N5O+H]+.
