1.6 g of 2-chloro-8-methyl-3-nitroquinoline (compound C1) is dissolved in 70 ml of ethanolic ammonia solution and stirred at 130° C. for 18 h in an autocave. After cooling to room temperature, the reaction mixture is concentrated in vacuo and the residue recrystallized from ethyl acetate. 1.2 g of the title compound are obtained as red solid.
