Reaction Steps
0.500 g of methyl 2-chloro-3-(pyrrolidinocarbonylmethoxy)-4-ethylsulfonylbenzoate were dissolved in 20 ml of THF and 20 ml of water, 0.056 g of NaOH was added and the mixture was stirred at RT for 12 hours. The mixture was admixed with 6 N HCl and extracted with CH2Cl2. Drying of the organic phase over Na2SO4 gave 2-chloro-3-(pyrrolidinocarbonylmethoxy)-4-ethylsulfonylbenzoic acid as a viscous colorless oil.
