To a stirred solution of 36 mg (0.11 mmol) (2-amino-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-4H-cyclohepta[b]thiophen-3-yl)-(3,4-dichloro-phenyl)-methanone in 2 ml acetic acid was added 18 mg (0.11 mmol) of 1-cyclopropyl-butane-1,3-dione and one drop of sulfuric acid. The mixture was then stirred at 100° C. for 10 minutes in a microwave and then concentrated in vacuo. Preparative HPLC (30% CH3CN/H20) afforded 10 mg (19%) cyclopropyl-[4-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-2-methyl-6,7,8,9-tetrahydro-5H-10-thia-1-aza-benzo[a]azulen-3-yl)-methanone as a light yellow oil. ES-MS m/e (%): 430 (M+H+, 100).
