6.00 g (11 mmol) racemic (2R,3R and 2S,3S)-5-Benzyloxy-2-dibenzylamino-3-(4-fluoro-2-nitro-phenoxy)-pentanoic acid in 100 ml methanol were hydrogenated with 1.5 g Raney-Nickel. Filtration and removal of the solvent by distillation yielded 5.57 g (98%) (2R,3R and 2S,3S)-3-(2-amino-4-fluoro-phenoxy)-5-benzyloxy-2-dibenzylamino-pentanoic acid as foam, MS m/e (%): 529.5 (M+H+, 100).
