Reaction Steps

To a solution of N-[3-(4-fluorophenyl)(1H-indazol-5-yl)]-4-pyridylcarboxamide (50 mg, 0.12 mmol) in THF (3 mL) was added lithium aluminum hydride (LAH) (9 mg, 0.24 mmol). The solution was stirred for 3 hours when an additional equivalence of LAH was added. The reaction was stirred for another 3 hours when it was quenched with ethyl acetate and water (100 mL) was added. The layers were separated and the water layer extracted with ethyl acetate (3×30 mL). The combined organic layers were dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated to an oil. The oil was taken up in methanol (10 mL) and 6N HCl (10 mL) and heated to 80° C. for 2 hours when it was quenched with NaHCO3 and extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined organic layers were dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated to afford the title compound (7.5 mg, 20% yield). 1H NMR (CDCl3) δ 8.6 (br s, 1H), 7.76 (dd, 2H), 7.35 (d, 2H), 7.24 (d, 2H), 7.15 (t, 2H), 6.9–6.8 (m, 2H), 4.43 (s, 2H); ES-MS (m/z) 319 [M+1]+.
