Procedure

A solution of 2-(4-methanesulfonylphenyl)-3-(tetrahydropyran-4-yl)-N-thiazol-2-ylpropionamide (EXAMPLE 65, 202 mg, 510 μmol), NBS (91 mg, 510 μmol), and Bz2O2 (6 mg, 26 μmol), in CCl4 (2 mL) was heated to reflux for 16 h. After removal of the solvent, the residue was partitioned between EtOAc (30 mL) and H2O (30 mL). The organic extracts were washed with saturated aqueous NH4Cl (30 mL), before being dried (MgSO4). Filtration, solvent evaporation, and flash chromatography (CH2Cl2-EtOAc, 2:3) gave the title compound: RTA=3.50 min; m/z (ES+)=516.2 [M+MeCN+H]+.
