Pd(PPh3)4 (12 mg, 0.01 mmol) is added to a solution of compound 45 (41 mg, 0.1 mmol) in toluene (0.6 ml), followed by ethylboronic acid (73 mg, 1 mmol) and Na2CO3 (1M, 0.2 ml, 0.2 mmol). The resulting mixture is heated to reflux overnight, and then cooled to room temperature. The toluene layer is separated. The aqueous layer is extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic layers are combined, washed with water, brine, dried, filtered and evaporated. The crude product is purified by chromatography (eluted with 6% EtOAc in hexane) to give the product as a white crystalline solid. 1H NMR (CDCl3) δ 1.00 (t, J=7.6 Hz, 6H), 1.23 (t, J=7.6 Hz, 3H), 1.73 (m, 4H), 2.09 (s, 3H), 2.84 (q, J=7.6 Hz, 2H), 3.87 (s, 3H), 4.16 (m, 1H), 6.78 (s, 1H), 6.89 (dd, 1H), 6.92 (s, 1H), 7.27 (d, J=8.4 Hz, 1H). LCMS 398.34 (M+1).
