Following the same procedure of Example 4 except that 3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)propionic acid (1.0 g, 6.0 mmol) and valine methyl ester hydrochloride (1.1 g, 6.6 mmol) were used, 1.5 g of the title compound was obtained. The compound was finally purified by silica gel column chromatography (column size: 25 mm×150 mm, silica gel 70-230 mesh, eluent: hexane/EtOAc (1/1)).
