Reaction Steps
1 N NaOH (324 μL, 0.32 mmol) was added under nitrogen to a solution at room temperature of [6-({[5-(4-chloro-phenyl)-2-trifluoromethyl-furan-3-carbonyl]-amino}-methyl)-naphthalen-2-yloxy]-acetic acid methyl ester (140 mg, 0.27 mmol), prepared in the previous step, in 15 mL of THF plus 8 mL of water. After the addition the reaction was stirred at room temperature for 7 h. The reaction was acidified with 1 N HCl and then concentrated under reduced pressure to remove the THF. The solid present was collected by filtration and dried under reduced pressure to give the title compound (125 mg, 91%) as an off-white solid, mp 194-196° C.
