Procedure

Sodium periodate (54 mg, 0.252 mmol) and water (1.5 mL) were added to a room temperature solution of Example 10B (70 mg, 0.168 mmol) in methanol (15 mL). After stirring for 3 hours, the reaction mixture was filtered and concentrated. The concentrate was purified by flash chromatography on silica gel using ethyl acetate to afford 57 mg (92%) of the desired product.
