Reaction Steps
2.9 cm3 of water is added to 1.05 g of the phenol obtained in Example 94 in solution in 3.9 cm3 of acetone, agitation is carried out, 0.3 cm3 of methyl sulphate and 0.83 cm3 of an 2N aqueous soda solution are added and agitation is carried out for 1 hour at ambient temperature. The reaction medium is acidified with 1 cm3 of 2N hydrochloric acid, poured into an aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate, extracted with ethyl acetate, dried and the solvent is evaporated off. After chromatographing the residue on silica (eluant: ethyl acetate-cyclohexane 3-7), 959 mg of expected product is obtained.
