Reaction Steps
N-Pent-4-enoyl-L-norleucine methyl ester (0.30 g, 1.32 mmol) was dissolved in THF (3 mL) and 1 M NaOH (3 mL) was added at RT. The reaction mixture was stirred for 3 h, poured onto ethyl acetate and 1 M HCl and the layers were separated. The organic layer was washed with water, dried over NaSO4, filtered and concentrated to give N-pent-4-enoyl-L-norleucine (0.25 g, 89% yield): 1H NMR (400 MHz, CD3OD) 8 ppm 5.81 (m, 1H), 5.02 (d, 1H), 4.95 (d, 1H), 4.82 (br s, 1H), 4.27 (m, 1H), 2.32 (br s, 4H), 1.80 (m, 1H), 1.65 (m, 1H), 1.37 (m, 4H), 0.9 (t, 3H).
