0.30 g (0.91 mmol) of t-butyl 2-[4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-6,7-dihydro[1,3]thiazol o[4,5-c]pyridin-5(4H)-carboxylate (product of step 3) was dissolved in 15 mL of 4.0 M HCl/Dioxan solution, followed by stirring for 2 hours. The solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure, and the residue was purified by column chromatography to give 0.15 g (0.53 mmol) of the title compound in a yield of 58%.
