N-(4-tert-Butyl-2-nitro-phenyl)-N,N′,N′-trimethyl-propane-1,3-diamine (Step 2, 200 mg, 0.682 mmol) was dissolved in 7 mL MeOH. Palladium (66 mg, 0.062 mmol, 10% w/w on carbon) was added, a balloon containing hydrogen was inserted, and the reaction was stirred at RT for 18 h. The solution was then filtered through a pad of Celite and concentrated, yielding the title compound as a dark brown solid. MS (M+H)+=264; Calc'd 263.42 for C16H29N3.
