Procedure

To a suspension of 2.3 g (4.0 mmol) thioacetic acid S-[2-(5-chloro-2-{[2-(3-chloro-pyridin-2-yl)-5-trifluoromethyl-2H-pyrazole-3-carbonyl]-amino}-3-methyl-benzoylamino)-1-methyl-ethyl]ester in 100 ml MeOH is added 1 ml MeI at a temperature of 5° C., followed by a solution of 0.8 g NaOH in 15 ml H2O. After 30 minutes, the clear solution is evaporated. The residue is triturated with 300 ml water (pH brought to 5 by adding HCl 1N). The crystals are filtered and washed with water and hexane (2.0 g, 92%, m.p.: 140-145° C.).
