4-[2-(3-Methoxy-phenyl)-acetyl]-3-methyl-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (91) was synthesized from 3-methyl-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (84) and (3-methoxyphenyl)-acetyl chloride following the procedure described in Example 32. crude yield: 95%. 1H-NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3): δ 1.36 (t, 3H), 2.61 (s, 3H), 3.77 (s, 3H), 3.99 (s, 2H), 4.32 (q, 2H), 6.81 (m, 3H), 7.24 (m, 1H), 7.45 (d, 1H), 9.41 (s broad, 1H) ppm. 13C-NMR (100 MHz, CDCl3): δ □□ 11.75, 14.40, 47.59, 55.19, 60.66, 112.19, 115.04, 121.71, 127.22, 129.58, 136.75, 159.75, 193.65 ppm. DEPT (100 MHz, CDCl3): CH3 carbons: 11.75, 14.40, 55.19; CH2 carbons: 47.59, 60.66; CH carbons: 112.19, 115.04, 121.71, 127.22, 129.58 ppm. LC/MS: 60.20%, m/z=301
