Procedure
Methanesulphonyl chloride (0.46 g) was added to a stirred mixture of N-[5-(3-dimethylaminobenzamido)-2-methylphenyl]-3-aminobenzamide, pyridine (0.56 ml) and methylene chloride (30 ml) and the resultant mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 48 hours. The precipitate was isolated, washed in turn with methylene chloride and diethyl ether and dried under vacuum at 60° C. There was thus obtained the title compound (1.64 g); m.p. 239-240° C.; NMR Spectrum: (DMSOd6) 2.19 (s, 3H), 3.03 (s, 9H), 7.24 (m, 2H), 7.45 (m, 5H), 7.59 (m, 1H), 7.71 (m, 1H), 7.27 (m, 1H), 7.77 (d, 1H), 7.82 (d, 1H), 9.94 (br s, 1H), 10.24 (br s, 1H); Mass Spectrum: M−H− 465.
