Procedure

To a round bottom flask containing a suspension of Pd—BaSO4 (47 mg) and MeOH (10 mL) was added compound 7 (527 mg, 1.01 mmol). The reaction flask was evacuated and back filled with H2 (1 atm, balloon) several times before being stirred for 30 minutes (the reaction was followed by TLC). The Pd catalyst was filtered off and rinsed several times with MeOH. The filtrate was concentrated to give the title compound a colorless solid (383 mg, 88%).
