Using 1.00 g (7.29 mmol) of (R)-phenylglycinol ((R)-VIII-2) and β-naphthoaldehyde, a similar operation was carried out to obtain (R)-N-(β-naphthyl)methyl-2-phenylglycinol (2.01 g) ((R)-II-3) quantitatively. ##STR318##
