Procedure

399.7 mg (0.619 mmole) of the compound obtained in step 1 was dissolved in 7 ml of methylene chloride and to the resulting solution was added 890 mg (10.2 mmole) of manganese dioxide. The mixture was stirred for 5 hours at room temperature and the resultant was removed from the solvent and purified with silica gel column chromatography to obtain 370 mg of the title compound (yield 93%).
