186 mg (0.403 mmol) of methyl 2-{6-[(2-butyl-4-chloro-5-formyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl]quinolin-2-yl}benzoate obtained in Example 1 was mixed with 19.3 mg (0.484 mmol) of sodium hydroxide, 1 ml of water and 2 ml of ethanol and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 24 hours. Then, the mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure and the concentrate was partitioned between water and ether. The aqueous layer was acidified with 1N hydrochloric acid and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over magnesium sulfate followed by filtration. The resulting filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain 142 mg of 2-{6-[(2-butyl-4-chloro-5-formyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl]quinolin-2-yl}benzoic acid.
