Procedure

A 300 mg portion of the product of Example 284 was hydrogenated over palladium/barium sulfate catalyst in 25 mL of pyridine at 15 psi hydrogen pressure at ambient temperature for 1 h. The mixture was then filtered and concentrated under vacuum, and the residue was purified by chromatography on silica gel, eluting with 75% ethyl acetate/hexane. The product thereby obtained was further purified on a Chromatatron, eluting with 5% isopropanol in chloroform to obtain the desired product in the form of a yellow oil. High resolution mass spectroscopy showed the correct molecular ion of 332.201440.
