Procedure
Isopropylamine (5.6 ml) was added dropwise to a mixture of 4-cyanobenzoyl isothiocyanate (11 g) and toluene (100 ml) at 60° C., and the insoluble substance in the reaction solution was filtered off. After allowing to stand for cooling, the precipitated crystals were recrystallized from toluene to give 1-(4-cyanobenzoyl)-3-isopropylthiourea (12.35 g) as pale yellow prisms.
