Reaction Steps
10 mg of 8-(3-methoxymethyl-4-oxo-2-oxetanyl)-4-methyl-2-octanol in 1 ml of EtOAc was added a small amount of activated silver oxide and 0.5 ml of methyl iodide. The mixture was heated for 5.5 hours at N 60° C. The solution was filtered and the filtrate was concentrated to dryness. The product was purified by flash chromatography to yield 8-(3-methoxymethyl-4-oxo-2-oxetanyl)-4-methyl-2-methoxyoctane. ##STR22##
