To a stirred solution of 5-bromo-3-cyano-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-trimethylsilylethynylpyrazole (43 mg, the compound of Example C1) in dichloromethane (1 ml) was added dropwise over five minutes tetra-n-butylammonium fluoride (0.098 ml). Stirring was continued at room temperature for 30 minutes. The reaction mixture was then poured into dichloromethane (10 ml) and water (10 ml). The organic layer was separated, dried (MgSO4) and evaporated. The residue was purified by column chromatography on silica gel (10 g) eluted with dichloromethane : hexane (1:2) to provide the title compound as a pale yellow solid m.p. 134-5° C.
