tert-Butyldimethylsilylchloride (3.75 g) and imidazole (1.69 g) were added to a solution of (2R)-1-(4-bromophenoxy)-4-(3-pyridyl)-2-butanol (4 g, Example 21a)) in dichloromethane. The mixture was stirred for 16 hours at room temperature. The white precipitate was collected by filtration and the filtrate concentrated under reduced pressure to give the sub-title compound as an oil (5.4 g)
