Reaction Steps

A solution of the protected amine, (R)-2-[2-(4-methyl-piperidin-1-yl)ethyl ]pyrrolidine-1-carboxylic acid, tert-butyl ester (D5) (3.0 g, 10 mmol) in trifluoroacetic acid (15 ml) and dichloromethane (50 ml) was heated to reflux for 18 hours. The reaction mixture was concentrated and the residue partitioned between CH2Cl2 and sat. aqueous K2CO3. The organic phase was dried and concentrated to afford the title compound (2.0 g, q) MH+ 197.
