To a solution of (S)-{2-(4-Benzyloxy-phenyl)-1-[(1-phenyl-cyclobutylmethyl)-carbamoyl]-ethyl}-methyl-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (from Step 1; 1.07 g, 2.02 mmol) in methylene chloride (10 mL) was added TFA (2.5 mL). The solution was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours and then concentrated in vacuo. Coevaporisation with methylene chloride was carried out twice to give the desired product which was used without further purification.
